Club Kaleidoscope refers to our three K-12 educational school-year sessions of classes that help develop young actors into "triple threats" on stage - able to act, sing and dance. Students receive age appropriate training in acting, character development, creative dramatics, improvisation, voice and diction, singing, movement, playmaking, and rehearsal technique. Seasonal dance/musical classes are also offered. Session classes require regular attendance, but PIR Fun Days and workshops offer the flexibility of scheduled drop-in.

3rd-5th Acting, Song
& Creative Dramatics
Grades 3rd-5th
Wednesdays 4:00-5:00

Drama Sparks
Grades K-2nd
Wednesdays 4:00-5:00
Class Descriptions
Drama Sparks students grades kindergarten- 2nd grade creatively laugh and play while learning theater basics such as teamwork, stage presence, character bodies, and stage voice through theater game activities, puppetry, storytelling, and script work. Musical theater and art crafts are woven into the curriculum to round things out and keep young actors creatively using their imaginations!
Acting, Song & Creative Dramatics for grades 3rd- 5th uses age appropriate theater exercises, games, and playful scenes to teach skills including teamwork, stage presence, voice, and character development to help young actors do their best job to “tell the story” to an audience through face, body, voice, words, and song while having a ton of fun in the process.

Acting & More!
Grades 6th-H.S.
Tuesday 4:00-5:00
Acting for grades 6th-H.S. is the class for students who want to dig a little deeper into unlocking a script and find out “what really makes a character tick.” In addition, actors continue to improve their basic theater skills of “telling the story” through improvisation, theater games, and exercises to better understand the tools that are their face, body, voice, and words, and how each are important to communicate an idea to an audience. Character and script analysis, as well as emotional investment and the willingness to take risks are musts in this class for the serious acting student or those just getting their toes wet. (We also laugh a lot and sing some!) Guest instructors are welcomed into the classroom when the opportunity arises.

KYT Teaching Assistant Program
Grades 8th-High School
KYT Teaching Assistant Program is for regularly enrolled Kaleidoscope students in grades 8th – H.S. who have also been involved in the Kaleidoscope Players’ productions. These students assist teachers in the classroom setting, and serve as role models and mentors for younger actors. Teaching Assistants must apply for positions and must commit to a full session (6-8 weeks). Community service hours are offered as well as the adoration of younger students!

Fun With Improvisation!
Grades 5th-9th
Wednesday 5:00-6:00
Improvisation is a great tool for loosening up the creative juices, going with the flow, and learning to work together ON THE SPOT! Fun to watch and fun to do (even when doing some serious improv), this class helps teach engagement, quick thinking, and growing confidence.

Musical Theater - Dance & Song
for the Stage
Grades 5th-H.S.
Or with director's permission
Mondays 4:00-5:00
Fall Focus - Lyrical * Winter Focus - Jazz
Spring Focus - Tap
Musical Theater - Dance & Song for the Stage for 5th-H.S. teaches students basic dance skills and concepts to help them tie their feet and bodies into their acting performance to create dynamic characters able to sing and dance up a storm on stage. Perfect for students interested in “putting their best foot forward” when auditioning or participating in musical theater productions. This class is adaptive to the levels and interests of the students enrolled. Jazz/Ballet/Tap shoes are available to try out a class, but students are expected to purchase their own for regular use.
